I have had the Bind-it-All for a few months now and have not had a chance to sit and play with it.
When I first got it I had to do a crash course on "how to use it" early one morning. See I have a 16 year old son (need I say more) who waited until 6am to tell me that his project needed to be bound! How many weeks did he have to do this project? On the morning it was due he remembers it wasn’t finished – surprise, surprise.
So I whip the Bind-it-All out (he is so impressed with me – "you have everything!" – Well not everything – but I do love my toys.) and pop in the DVD for my crash course on how to use it. In that 5 minutes I am happy to say we were able to bind his project and off he went to school – thinking I was cool. No not really thinking that!
Well that was months ago and I haven’t used it since. So now that Christmas is over and things are a bit more calm I want to figure out all the things I can do with it. It really is the cutest little machine.
First I pop in the DVD again and watch that and then I search SCS to see if I can pick up any tips there. It seems like it will be simple to use – just like that first morning. Well yes and no. It does take practice. I was able to do something very simple with it… There are a few different things in this picture. The Bind – it – All project is the Card Keeper.
This is a really cute project. It would make a great gift for someone – along with a few homemade cards.
I will talk about the card keeper first. I tried to follow directions I had printed out from SCS (I think – I am sorry – I forgot to write the persons name on my print out and it did not have a web address on it). I am really not sure where I printed the directions from and I only used them as a guide.
Ingredients:
(all SU products used unless otherwise stated)
Paper – Ginger Blossom designer series paper, Kraft cardstock
Accessories: Chipboard letter "C", assorted ribbon, earth elements button
Stamp set: Retired SU alpha set
This is a view of the inside of the cover(left side) and first pocket page.
Pages are Kraft CS cut to measure 10" x 7-3/4" (approx.)
Each page was folded in half (score it at 5" first then fold – that way you get a nice fold) and score at 2" on the 7 – 3/4 side. Now look at the photo before you fold anything. Maybe I should have said that first.
First fold the 2" piece up and make a nice crease with your bone folder. Second fold the page in half – the pockets form on the outside. When you bind this all together the folded side of the page is NOT the side to punch holes in – the open side is. TIP: I put a piece of sticky tape inside bottom section of each page.
I put 4 pages in my book which have pockets on both sides.
Decorate the cover and pages before you bind it.
The card in this picture is made with the same Designer Series paper – Ginger Blossom and the CS used was River Rock, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Rose Red.
What is new about this card is the Sentiment – I used Stampin’ Up!’s new Rub-Ons. Love – Love – Love them. I never used rub ons before so this was my very first time! They are super easy and fun to use. My only tip is to cut out the rub-on you want to use first. I used the stick that came with it – no problem at all.
One last photo…
This was the last of the projects I did last night. It is a Calendar magnet. Super easy and fun to make.
I used the same Designer Series paper and attached it to both the 4" and 3-1/2" in coasters (only on the fronts). Sanded the edges, used a build a brad (love them-if you haven’t tried them I suggest you do) and ribbon.
To assemble I glued the 3-1/2" coaster on top of the 4" coaster a little to one side. TIP: First decorate the 3-1/2" coaster then glue it to the 4" coaster. I used crystal effects to adhere the 2 coasters together.
I also used a white rub-on image on top of my build a brad. I really like the way it turned out. It has a bit of a glare in the picture but it really looks great. I purchased the little calendars that I used on this project from an online site – vippies.com
Only the this top page has the Christmas images and green box around the month. The other months are plain and go well with the paper I used.
I am sorry for the long post today but I wanted to show you these cute projects.
I would love to hear what you are creating!
Thanks for stopping by~
